About My Work
Bridging Cultures Through the Language of Color and Script.
Dr. Samina Zaheer is a Pakistani visual artist and educator whose practice sits at the crossroads of postcolonial identity, cultural memory, and contemporary mixed-media expression. Working in acrylic, gold leaf, and calligraphic script, her canvases weave together the visual vernacular of South Asia with global artistic dialogues.
Her work draws deeply from the native color palette of Pakistani visual culture — vivid teals, saffron oranges, and fuchsia pinks that echo the
vibrancy of local craft, textile, and festival traditions. These hues are not merely aesthetic choices; they are cultural declarations rooted in lived experience and indigenous sensibility.
Arabic calligraphy embedded across her compositions serves as a spiritual anchor, honoring the Islamic heritage that shapes Pakistani identity. Alongside it, fragments of Latin script and Western alphabets appear as markers of a generation navigating postcolonial hybridity — celebrating cultural exchange while critically engaging with it.
